30% hike overnight in PPL Rates – Pennsylvania

I was hoping to start off the first post of this blog on a positive note. However I just read that Pennsylvania (a state I usually visit every year) will have a huge increase (29.7%) in electricity rates as 2010 begins. Thats a nice way to start the next decade.

The reason is the cap on PPL Electric Utilities is expiring so there’s no easing into this. However – if you live in PA – don’t panic – commentator Tim Mekeel from Lancaster has provided a few solutions.
