How To Compare Electricity Suppliers?
If you’re lucky enough to live in an area that has more than one electricity supplier to choose from, comparison shopping could save you a lot of money on your energy bill.
I wish I had this option. Where I live, we have one big corporation that runs all of the utilities (electric, gas, etc.) and the public transportation in the city. We are stuck with their ever-rising rates and have to creatively find ways to reduce costs.
If you have the option for switching electricity supplier, look into it and take advantage of it If you find a better deal. Some companies offer good rates just to switch to their company (although these usually increase after a set period of time) and good deals for electricity use during non-peak times.
You might also find that some will offer rebates and discounts for installing Energy Star appliances and making your home or business more energy efficient. If you truly want to save money on your electric bill, it can not hurt to shop around ask questions to find the best possible deal.
If you have not been pleased with your current company, look for an electricity supplier who meets your needs where the other has fallen short.
Some electricity suppliers can benefit you in other ways too. Many of them now have an assessment program that tells you how much energy you are using on average. Combining this with their energy saving education program could see you saving money and saving energy, leading a more eco-conscious lifestyle.
If you do have your choice of electricity suppliers, be sure to compare more than just the prices. Look at any savings plans and perks they offer for non-peak usage. That alone can reduce your bill. Don’t let one big company try to call the shots and bully you into keeping your business with them. Options are good to have.
Those of us in the big cities who have seen our electricity suppliers turn into one giant corporation with no options and little benefit will tell you that having choices is definitely good.
