Electricity from Wind Farms

The Midwest, a land of gentle rolling prairie land could be getting some serious renewable energy. The Illinois Power Commission which purchases electricity on behalf of consumers in Illinois has been given the go-ahead to seek 3.5% of its electricity needs from wind power companies.

That’s a very good step towards making our utility resources more diversified – and while probably not cheaper would start the process that could see us harvesting more power from wind and solar.

62% hike for North Coast electrical customers in Australia

The Bellington-Shire Courier Sun out of North South Wales, Australia is reporting that its North Coast residents will get a hefty utility raise of 62% (so its not just us in the States!).

They are looking at double-digit increases over a 3 to 4 year period. They are forecasting that the average small business in that area would be paying an extra $3,000 annually in electricity bills.

Unfortunately – at a time when small businesses need to be the engine for job growth in every part of the world – they are getting slammed with fees and more fees.
